Tennis

Tennis is a part of EPATT’s DNA, we originally began as a summer tennis program. Today, we run our tennis classes on the Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School (CCRMS) courts that we built 30 years ago in East Palo Alto. The lessons that participating in sports naturally teaches about discipline, persistence, and resilience have always played an impactful role in our youth development model. Our coaches are EPATT alumni who learned the game as EPATT students, and who are now giving back to the community and creating a new generation of tennis players.

Tennis has been my classroom outside of the classroom, and it has given me the platform to believe in myself.

EPATT teaches students the basics of the game with a focus on fun, teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work. Our coaches draw parallels between tennis and academics; both require an investment in time, discipline, and practice. Students learn that with daily effort, they can raise their game both on the tennis court and in the classroom.

Students who demonstrate a commitment to tennis can apply to join EPATT’s tournament team. The team competes in USTA and UTR tournaments across Northern California. Members receive extra practice time, free individual lessons, and the opportunity to experience team camaraderie.
